AKTI

THE PARTNERS

AKTI is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation (NGO). AKTI is active in subjects related to land and marine environment, quality of life, environmental education (of children and youth), and environmental awareness of the public. AKTI has several publications related to the above subjects. It has participated in European programmes and networks for NGOs and in several bi-communal projects.

  • Mr Michalis I. Loizides is a Chemical and Environmental Engineer. He graduated the National Technical University of Athens, Department of Chemical Engineering and Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine (MSc, DIC in Environmental Engineering). Since 1998 he is the Director of the company ISOTECH LTD Environmental Consultants. He has worked as scientific coordinator in more than 40 projects EU funded (LIFE, Leonardo da Vinci, 5th EU Framework for Research, 6th EU Framework for Research, MEDA and other), international funded projects (e.g. by UNEP, UNDP, USAID), transnational (e.g. DAC projects), national research projects (e.g. Cyprus Research Foundation) and private funded projects in the field of Environmental Sciences. He is member of the General Council of the Technical Chambers of Cyprus and chairman of the Environmental Committee of the Chambers.


  • Ms Kyriaki Demetriou, graduated the Department of Turkish Studies of the University of Cyprus and she has a Master Degree in Contemporary European Studies from the University of Sussex, United Kingdom. After finishing her studies in 1998 she had a 5-months in-service training with the European Commission, at DG Environment in the Department of Environmental Cooperation with European Third Countries. Since 1999 Ms Demetriou is working with Isotech Ltd and AKTI as Programs and Projects Coordinator. Until now she has been involved as coordinator in several national, transnational and European Union funded Projects (e.g.LIFE, Leonardo Da Vinci, MEDA, Youth for Europe etc) and research programs (5FP, Cyprus Research Foundation etc). She has extensive experience in bi-communal projects.
