CONSULTANTS

THE PARTNERS

The partners have secured the participation as external consultants of four internationally known scientists:

  • Prof. Costas Thanos from the University of Athens, who coordinated a project on the establishment of micro-reserves in western Crete
  • Prof. Kyriacos Georghiou from the University of Athens, who is Cypriot and has been actively involved for 20 years in several projects on plant diversity conservation in Cyprus and
  • Prof. Munir Ozturk, who is a plant ecologist at the Ege University (Turkey) who has been actively involved for the last 37 years in several projects on pollution biomonitoring, land degradation, desertification in the Mediterranean (EU projects), plant diversity conservation, saline agriculture and halophyte utilisation, and is currently running a bilateral project with Greek colleagues from Athens on desertification indicators - mainly carob from Crete and Bodrum.
  • Dr Vicente Deltoro from Spain a close collaborator of Dr Emilio Laguna who proposed and implemented first the Plant Micro-Reserves approach.
