IEOAES

THE PARTNERS

The IEOAES is an interdisciplinary institute, which has been established to solve environmental problems in the Turkish Cypriot Community. The major topics that the institute addresses include increasing public awareness and sustainable development planning. IEOAES is a centre of excellence within Cyprus for ecological and environmental research and is well placed with regard to expertise and facilities to achieve the objectives of this project.

  • Dr Salih Gucel is the Head of the Environmental Institute; he is a biologist who specialises on plant diversity conservation in Cyprus. Dr Gucel has coordinated and participated in many research and educational projects, including bi-communal projects funded by the UNDP-ACT.


  • Dr Dudu Ozkum holds an MSc and a PhD in Science/Biology (Botany) from the Hacettepe University. She has dealt with various aspects of biodiversity and in situ conservation. She studies micropropagation of some economically important endemic, medicinal and aromatic plants. She is a member of the Federation of the European Societies in Plant Biology (FESP) and the Society for Experimental Biology (SEB).


The IEOAES scientific team also includes laboratory technicians with experience in micropropagation.
