The Project DIDAKTOR/0609/13

The current project is entitled 'Vulnerability of narrow endemic Cedrus brevifolia from Cyprus: Detection of genes and phenotypic trait diversity linked to adaptation' (DIDAKTOR/0609/13). In general, the project's objective is to assess the genomic and phenotypic-anatomic traits diversity of C. brevifolia, as a consequence of this species' adaptation within its natural population.

The project is implemented within the
'Framework Programme for Research, Technological Development and Innovation 2009-2010* (Priority Pillar II: Development of Human Research Resources - DIDAKTOR Programme) of the Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation (RPF). The project is being co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the Republic of Cyprus, through the RPF. The project has officially commenced on August 1st, 2011 and its duration is 36 months (to be completed by July 31st, 2014). For the implementation of the project, a well-organised consortium has been created, consisting of four organisations from three European countries: Frederick Research Centre (Cyprus), French National Institute for Agricultural Research (France), Demokritos University of Thrace (Greece) and the Department of Forests (Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and the Environment, Cyprus).

*DESMI 2009-2010 is co-funded by the Republic of Cyprus and the European Regional Development Fund.
