Arabis Kennedyae

Annual or biennial plant (lives only for one or two years), 5 to 30 cm high.

This species is found only in Cyprus (endemic species of Cyprus) in three locations:
- Southwest slopes of Chionistra (Troodos)
- Tripylos area in Paphos
- Kryos Potamos

It is located in rocky areas, Juniperus woodlands (Juniperus foetidissima), the edges of roads in the Cedar forest and along streams, at altitudes from 1200 to 1870 m.

It was first collected in 1938 by Mrs. Kennedy at Xerokolymbos and was described in 1962 by the author of "The flora of Cyprus" Desmond Meikle.

Arabis kennedyae is included in Annex II of Directive 92/43/EEC as a priority species and in Appendix I of the Bern Convention as a strictly protected species.
