Centaurea akamantis
T. Georgiadis & Hadjik.

Small shrub with hanging stems 40-60 cm long.

It is a species found only in Cyprus (endemic species of Cyprus) in two locations in the area of Akamas: "Avakas" and "Argaki ton Koufon" Gorges.

Located on shady limestone rock fissures of the two gorges (70-100 m).

It was described for the first time in 1993 by T. Georgiades and G. Hadjikyriakou.

Centaurea akamantis is included in Annex II of Directive 92/43/EEC as a priority species and in Appendix I of the Bern Convention as a strictly protected species.
